Add a Premium to Interior Spaces by Using Sliding Doors on Linear Motion Rails
Today we are looking at linear motion guide rails of the kind used on many of our sliding door systems.
When you want to elevate the user experience of a space, one of the most powerful and cost-effective measures you can take is to use better hardware solutions for common applications.
One excellent example of this is the use of sliding doors. They are uncommon compared to swinging doors and, therefore, a bit exotic, which makes them visually intriguing. A Quick Explanation of Linear Motion Guide Rails
Linear motion rails facilitate back-and-forth linear movement for carriage systems. Just like a railroad car on the train track, there are only two ways that a carriage on a guide rail can go: along the rail in one direction or along the rail in the opposite direction. This maintains the alignment of the carriages, ensuring smooth, precise, consistent movement.
Guide rails have extensive industrial applications but can also be used architecturally—as we do at Sugatsune America. The guide rails in our door systems mount easily onto ceilings and (where applicable) floors, ensuring secure carriage placement from which doors can be hung. The trick of the MFU1200 is that its linear motion rails have a bend at the end, which is how the flush doors move out of the way of the wall when opened. Doors that use the MFU1200 don’t need handles to be installed, though you can add them if you desire. The movement is so smooth and easy that the user needs to simply push the doors softly to open them and pull on them gently to close. |
MFU1200 linear motion guide rails are:
- 2-way damped for soft closing and soft opening.
- Fully adjustable on the horizontal, vertical, and depth axes for perfect alignment.
- Available in regular-duty and heavy-duty versions.
- Available in left-opening and right-opening versions. (They can be used alone or in symmetrical pairs.)
- Ceiling mount only; no floor tracks are required.
SDR-RA80SYN Synchronized Sliding Door System
Synchronized movement is incredibly clean and aesthetically pleasing. It’s also nice that the user only has to operate one door (if desired) in order to move both of them. The movement is light to the touch and as easy to use as a single door.
SDR-RA80SYN linear motion guide rails are:
- Damped for soft closing that prevents slamming.
- Ceiling-mountable or mountable in a wall/barn door style. No floor tracks are required.
- Vertically adjustable for alignment.
- Available in a main model, Regular-Duty SDR-RA80SYN-40 and Heavy-Duty SDR-RA80SYN-80, and the smaller SDR-A125SYN.
LM-80 & LM-80G Self-Closing Sliding Door Systems
This system is perfectly suited for anyone who wants to replace a traditional swinging door with a self-closing sliding door instead. They make a nice addition to upscale homes, conference rooms, and offices and are also well-suited for medical and institutional settings and some hospitality applications, where the self-close feature is highly convenient.
The LM-80 system is available in two variants: the regular LM-80 for use with most doors and the LM-80G for use with glass doors.
LM-80 linear motion rails are:
- Self-closing by gravity for easy operation and convenience.
- Damped to prevent doors from slamming shut.
- Mounted to the wall surface for easy installation.
- Able to be held in the fully open position by engaging the built-in catch.
